Looking for a day away from London that isn't a million miles away? A return ticket to Oxfordshire’s beautiful Blenheim Palace could be just the thing. This stunning stately home is having ‘a moment’ right now. In June 2016, more than six decades after Christian Dior dazzled the aristocracy at Blenheim Palace, the label returned there to showcase its 2017 cruise collection. With an audience of over 600 movers and shakers from the fields of fashion, film and society, this brought the palace firmly back into the spotlight.
Blenheim is a grade-1 listed palace with 187 rooms set in 2,000 acres, designed by Sir John Vanbrugh and built between 1705 and 1722. It was given to John Churchill, the 1st Duke of Marlborough, by Queen Anne for his victories over the French in the War of the Spanish Succession. Today, Blenheim is home to Jamie Blandford, the 12th Duke of Marlborough, who inherited the title in 2014
A celebration of style, design and celebrity, there was much to inspire. However, the real star of the show, in our opinion, was Blenheim Palace.
