IT'S A MAN'S WORLD

Recent surveys say British men are now spending almost as much a year as women do on clothes. The same is happening in the hairdressing world. The tables have turned and now it’s the men who are having the treatments to keep their locks looking their best.

This rise in men's grooming has had a knock on effect within the interiors world too, with the demand for men’s walk-in wardrobes on the up. It’s not hard to understand why. After a quick shower, croissant and a good strong cappuccino, how much easier could it be than to find everything in its place in a custom- made wardrobe. American men have been enjoying their dedicated closets for years and now it seems the British male is catching on.

It’s not hard to see why when pull-down hanging rail make choosing a freshly-ironed shirt a breeze, and ready-tied ties wait in rows to complete the suited and booted look. Men now want a place for everything and everything in its place.

And they want their furniture for storing clothes to look good too. The darker woods such as Neatsmith Anthracite and mirrored or smoked glass add cutting edge detail to the walk-in wardrobe where island units neatly store everything from socks to sweaters. Custom-made drawers keep shoes in line and to make sure the back looks as good as the front, pivoting mirrors slip neatly away next to suits and overcoats.

And for the all important briefcase, sports bag and iPad case, sets of drawers and easy-to-see everything open shelving do the trick. And, for the man who has everything, a useful safe for passports completes the design concept.
